GEORGIA NARROWLY EDGES AUBURN TO RECLAIM NO. 1 SPOT

SOUTH CAROLINA JUMPS FIVE SPOTS TO TAKE NO. 1 RANKING IN FINAL COACHES POLL

In winning the inaugural SEC Championship on Saturday, South Carolina made the biggest week-to-week jump by any newly No. 1 ranked team in the history of the NCEA coaches poll, as the Gamecocks moved up five spots to take over the top spot in the final poll of the season. South Carolina received three first-place votes, followed by Georgia and Auburn with two each, and Big-12 champion Oklahoma State with one.

The two-time defending Big-12 champion Cowgirls (11-5) moved up one spot to No. 2 as head coach Larry Sanchez was voted Big-12 Coach of the Year. Georgia went 1-1 at the SEC Championships but falls two spots to No. 3. After dropping the SEC Championship to the Gamecocks on Saturday, Auburn (11-3) falls two spots to No. 4.

Big-12 runner up Kansas State moves down one spot to No. 5, as the Wildcats dropped an 8-6 decision to Oklahoma State in a thriller of a meet on Saturday. After defeating TCU to finish third at the Big-12 Championship, Baylor moves up one spot to No. 6. The Horned Frogs went 0-2 in Stillwater and dropped two spots this week to No. 7. Texas A&M holds steady at No. 8, as the Aggies have had the toughest schedule as of late, having to compete twice against both Georgia and Auburn in their last four meets.

Despite not having competed in an NCEA head-to-head meet since Feb. 24, Southern Methodist managed to move up one spot this week to No. 9. South Dakota State and Skyhawk Invitational Champion UT Martin are both tied at No. 10. The Skyhawks won the inaugural tournament last month and have won their last three meets in a row.

The collegiate coaches competing under the National Collegiate Equestrian Association umbrella initiated the national poll. This is the final coaches poll of the 2012-2013 season. The NCEA National Championships will be held April 18-20 in Waco Texas.
